The Worldview Institute, a leading think tank, has donated 5,000 pine trees to the Lusaka City Council to support newly proposed cemetery space under its ongoing Think Green programme.
Speaking to the media, Executive Chairman Victor Nyasulu highlighted that the initiative forms part of the institute’s broader environmental efforts. To date, the organization has planted 10,289 trees across Zambia, through projects including the revival of the SHANGA Project and various community engagement initiatives.
“We are aware that to remain on track with our goal of one million trees by 2030, we must plant 390,000 trees by the end of 2026,” Mr. Nyasulu stated.
He also called for a shift in mindset regarding the country’s natural resources, particularly minerals, urging greater local participation in mining activities. “The country has the capacity to develop its own industries, just as it did in the past when local manufacturing thrived,” he added.
The Think Green programme continues to engage communities in environmental stewardship, encouraging sustainable practices and nationwide tree planting initiatives.
