LUCAZ Condemns Mob Killing in Kalumbila District, Calls for Justice

The Lunda Cultural Association of Zambia has strongly condemned the brutal killing of a woman in Kalumbila District, describing the act as barbaric and a violation of fundamental human rights.

In a statement released by LUCAZ President Katendi Kapin’a-Nkombo, the association expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the mob justice that led to the death of Eneless Hellen Kamutumbe. The victim was reportedly accused, without verification, of being involved in the alleged disappearance of male genitalia—claims that have sparked panic in some communities.

LUCAZ noted that the incident was particularly distressing as it occurred in Lunda land, a region known for its peaceful and communal values. The association emphasized that no individual deserves to lose their life in such a violent and degrading manner, highlighting reports that the victim was stripped naked and murdered in cold blood.

“The right to life is the most fundamental of all human rights,” the statement read, stressing that mob justice undermines the rule of law and civilized society.

The organization has called on law enforcement agencies to act swiftly and decisively by arresting and prosecuting all those responsible. LUCAZ urged authorities to leave “no stone unturned” in ensuring justice is served.

Additionally, LUCAZ echoed concerns raised by Senior Chief Museli Musokantanda, who has called for increased police presence in Kisasa and across Kalumbila District. The area has seen a rise in population due to mining activities, attracting people from various parts of the country and increasing the need for strengthened security measures.

The association also appealed to members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. Instead, citizens are encouraged to report suspected crimes to the police for proper investigation and legal action.

LUCAZ concluded by warning that such tragic incidents must never be allowed to recur, urging collective responsibility in upholding peace, justice, and respect for human life.
