Kamutumbe Family To Receive K75,000 From Kisasa Traders

A tragic incident that shook the Kisasa community in Kalumbila District has taken a compassionate turn after traders at Kisasa Market raised K75,000 to support the children of the late Helen Kamutumbe, who was killed in a mob justice incident two months ago.

The funds were officially presented to Kalumbila District Commissioner, Brenda Sankisa, following contributions made by traders as a gesture of apology to Senior Chief Musele and the affected family.

The mob justice incident had sparked outrage within the district and led to the temporary closure of Kisasa Market as authorities sought to restore order and address community concerns.

Speaking during the presentation, Senior Chief Musele said he could not personally keep or use the money. Instead, he directed that the entire amount be handed over to Helen Kamutumbe’s children to assist with their education and general welfare.

The traditional leader emphasized that the late Kamutumbe left behind children who are now struggling without financial support for school fees, rentals, and daily needs.

“This money should go towards helping the children have a better future,” Senior Chief Musele stated.

Meanwhile, District Commissioner Brenda Sankisa disclosed that family members have already been informed to bring the children from Chingola to Kalumbila for the formal handover ceremony.

Ms Sankisa added that the funds will only be released in the presence of the children and family representatives to ensure transparency and accountability during the process.

The gesture by Kisasa traders has been widely viewed as a step toward healing and reconciliation within the community following the painful events that led to Helen Kamutumbe’s death.
