Tamika Kawonga Triumphs at Rivonia Flavor Showdown

After weeks of sizzling competition and culinary creativity, 21-year-old Tamika Kawonga has emerged as the winner of the Rivonia Flavor Showdown, earning the coveted grand prize: a fully funded culinary scholarship.

Kawonga shed tears of joy as she was crowned champion, a moment that marked the culmination of a fierce and inspiring journey.

“This competition has confirmed it, cooking is where I belong,” she shared.

The contest began with 100 hopefuls and narrowed down through intense cooking challenges to just four finalists. Joining Tamika in the top ranks were:

Thembisile Mukonka (29) – A nurse by profession, she blended her love for food with a drive to learn and grow.

Cecilia Kaimika (32) – A passionate advocate for vegetarian cuisine, she dreams of opening a plant-based restaurant in Zambia.

“Vegetarian cuisine has so much potential here,” she said.

 Malala Chindumba (25) – Called the journey “life-changing,” hoping the exposure will elevate her culinary career.

Launched to empower aspiring chefs and promote culinary innovation, the Rivonia Flavor Showdown has become a beacon for young talent. Participants not only showcased their skills but also gained mentorship from industry professionals.

With its mission to inspire and elevate Zambia’s culinary scene, the competition has proven that passion, creativity, and perseverance can turn dreams into reality.
