Agriculture Climate Action Foundation Urges Adoption of Regenerative Farming Practices

....As it Commends 2025 Agriculture Show for Promoting Climate Action in Farming

The Agriculture Climate Action Foundation (ACAF) has applauded the organizers of the 2025 Agriculture and Commercial Show for adopting a theme that highlights the pressing need to address climate change within the agricultural sector.

Held under the theme “Adapting to Climate Change,” this year’s 97th edition of the show has become a platform for farmers, agribusinesses, and policymakers to discuss sustainable farming practices and climate resilience strategies.

ACAF Executive Director, Dr. Oliver Bulaya, commended the theme, noting that it aligns perfectly with the urgent call for climate action in agriculture.

He emphasized that farmers must adopt climate-smart and regenerative agricultural techniques to strengthen their resilience against erratic weather patterns and environmental degradation.

“We are encouraging farmers to implement methods such as minimum tillage, crop rotation, crop residue retention, and agroforestry integration,” said Dr. Bulaya. “These practices not only improve soil fertility but also help mitigate the impact of climate change on agricultural productivity.”

Dr. Bulaya added that the increasingly unpredictable weather patterns serve as a wake-up call for the sector to redesign agricultural systems for long-term sustainability.

“Our farmers are at the frontline of climate change. To secure our food systems and protect our environment, we must shift towards regenerative and sustainable farming models,” he said.

Through its programs, ACAF continues to collaborate with government ministries, research institutions, and community-based organizations to promote climate-resilient agriculture.

The Foundation’s initiatives focus on empowering farmers with the knowledge, tools, and policy support needed to safeguard both their livelihoods and the planet.

As Zambia and other African nations confront the realities of a changing climate, the message from ACAF is clear: adapting to climate change is no longer optional, it is essential for the future of agriculture and food security.
