Lusaka, Zambia – Government has called on insurance companies to diversify their products and services in order to effectively respond to challenges affecting key sectors of the economy, particularly agriculture and tourism.
Speaking during the 12th anniversary celebration of A Plus General Insurance held in Lusaka last evening, Ministry of Finance Deputy Permanent Secretary for Economic Management and Finance, Mr. Victor Kachabe, emphasized the critical role insurance plays in driving national economic growth.
Mr. Kachabe said a strong and responsive insurance sector is essential in protecting investments, managing risks, and supporting sustainable development, especially in sectors that are vulnerable to climate change, market fluctuations, and other uncertainties.
“Insurance is a key pillar of economic stability. It protects investments and provides confidence to investors, farmers, and tourism operators. Diversifying insurance products will help the sector respond more effectively to emerging risks,” Mr. Kachabe said.
He further urged members of the public to prioritize insurance as a proactive measure, rather than viewing it as an option only after risks or losses have already occurred.
“Insurance should be seen as a necessity, not an afterthought,” he added.
Meanwhile, A Plus General Insurance Chief Executive Officer Mr. Aaron Kamanga expressed gratitude to the company’s customers for their loyalty and continued support over the past 12 years.
Mr. Kamanga noted that the company’s growth over the years is a testament to the trust customers have placed in the brand and reaffirmed A Plus General Insurance’s commitment to delivering reliable and innovative insurance solutions.
The anniversary celebration was further marked by the official opening of Dos Palmos Lodge, located along Central Street in Jesmondine, Lusaka. The opening of the lodge added significance to the event as it coincided with the 12-year milestone of A Plus General Insurance’s existence.
The celebrations highlighted the growing importance of the insurance industry in Zambia’s economic development and reinforced calls for innovation, customer-focused services, and strategic partnerships to support national development goals.
