Malawi High Commissioner Visits Copperbelt Energy Corporation Headquarters


Kitwe, Zambia — November 8, 2025

 The Malawi High Commissioner to Zambia, Her Excellency Ms. Margaret C. Kamoto, yesterday paid a courtesy visit to the Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) Head Office in Kitwe, where she commended the company for its achievements in power generation and regional electricity trade.

During the visit, Ms. Kamoto highlighted the importance of regional collaboration in the energy sector, noting that Malawi is keen to strengthen partnerships with CEC, particularly in areas of capacity building, technical training, and knowledge sharing through Malawi’s energy institutions.

“CEC’s progress in advancing power solutions and regional energy trade is impressive. There is great potential for cooperation that can enhance energy security and expertise across our two countries,” Ms. Kamoto said.

In response, CEC Board Chairperson Mr. London Mwafulilwa reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting Zambia’s energy development and promoting regional integration through its green energy strategy.

“CEC remains dedicated to driving sustainable growth within the energy sector, not only for Zambia but for the broader Southern African region,” Mr. Mwafulilwa stated.

The visit underscores the growing collaboration between Zambia and Malawi in pursuing clean and sustainable energy solutions, in line with regional efforts to expand access to reliable power and support economic development.
